How Much Times Have Changed – Blog Comment Spam in 2007

I think this screenshot speaks for itself:

commercial anchor text (money keyword) on a blog comment at mattcutts.comBack in 2007 comments were approved with exact anchor text on the blog for Google’s head of webspam, mattcutts.com.  And these aren’t just black sheep. There are lots more comments like it.

Apparently comment spam like “A nice blog. Amazingly useful content” was a new thing then too… I guess a reminder of how much times have changed and how little these rules are actually set in stone.
